Our Story

Lea and Hero's Pawsitive Impact was founded in 2024 by Neil Gobardhan, a Toronto lawyer and devoted dog owner, after he successfully rehomed a vulnerable dog scheduled for euthanasia and realized traditional shelters were limited in their ability to help dogs in desperate need. We are a non-profit organization that assists Canadians adopt vulnerable dogs free of charge, particularly helping families rejected by municipal humane societies for situational reasons like living in small spaces or with babies. Our mission is to overcome these obstacles and pair vulnerable dogs with suitable, loving, forever homes - named after two of Neil's beloved previous dogs: Lea and Hero.
